Matthew Cassils, praised by the Montreal Gazette for his “clear, silvery tone minted for French repertoire”, is known for his vocal flair and dynamic presence on opera and concert stages alike. A native of Montreal, Mr. Cassils completed his vocal studies at McGill University before relocating to Toronto to attend the Royal Conservatory. Matthew has appeared in Bach’s Mass in B Minor and Mozart’s Requiem at the Elora Festival, as well as in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with both the Regina Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Conservatory Orchestra. As consummate lieder and art-song singer, Matthew has given concerts of the epic song-cycles by Mahler: The Songs of the Earth and Songs of the Wayfarer. One of Mr. Cassils‘ signature opera roles is as Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro. Mr. Cassils has been heard on broadcasts with CBC/Radio-Canada and Bravo Television.
